A Buddhist scholar, Haemin Sunim, wrote this book. It mostly resembles the wisdom and experience of the author. The book is written through eight chapters. Each of the chapters emphasizes Buddhism, calmness, mindfulness, and passion.
We can simply forget to slow down since the world is moving so quickly. Our minds can be greatly influenced by the hectic society we live in. The book shows that we don’t need to keep up with the fast pace of our surrounding world. Sometimes, we can just give ourselves a break and calm our minds. Our surroundings have so much positivity and calmness to offer us; it’s just us who become ignorant about our own peace.
We experience uneasiness and restlessness in a chaotic world. It is hard to find peace in this hectic environment. The book shows that slowing down can be so relaxing and helpful in calming our chaotic minds. While running through the busy days, we just forget that life is not meant for racing. We should spend some time with ourselves, where we can enjoy calmness.
We spend our lives thinking about the things that cannot be controlled. Our dreams and our passions are some of the things that are in our hands. When we search for something, we will only find those things around us. This is what exactly happens with our dreams and passion. When we focus on our passion, we will see opportunities around us regarding our goals. For example, if our mind looks for a specific plant, we will keep seeing that specific plant wherever we go. Our passion and our dreams are the things that keep us moving forward in our lives. In a busy schedule, sometimes we forget to think and focus on our passion.
Love is something that comes into one’s life unknowingly. You cannot decide when, why, how, or with whom you will fall in love. It is something that is so unpredictable. You never know if love will happen to you or not. It can sometimes happen accidentally, but it’s in your hands to end it. Before getting involved in a committed relationship, you should think wisely.
Spirituality can lead someone to calmness so effectively. All religions discuss love, tolerance, and acceptance, regardless of the one you practice. If you respect your own faith and have a good understanding of its fundamentals, it is very difficult to get embroiled in a dispute with someone of a different religion.
We mostly think about what others are thinking about us. Actually, not everyone is interested in what we are doing. Even if they think about our work or do not like it, that is not our concern. We should keep doing our work without thinking about others’ opinions. Lastly, whatever we do in our lives, we do it for ourselves. In the book, Sunim said to own up to our desires. Only then can you make the world a happier place to live.
We often neglect the fact that our words can influence others’ lives. A piece of beautiful language can sometimes help to form someone else’s future. We can form someone’s character by praising their positive sides unknowingly.
Overall, the book is very helpful for self-development. Here, Sunim has made it very soothing for the readers to look at the chaotic world with a calm point of view.
