Social media anxiety is a type of anxiety disorder that arises in social situations.
- Some of the disorders associated with the social anxiety spectrum include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, autistic spectrum disorders, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. People high in social anxiety tend to avoid eye contact, show less facial expression, and have difficulty initiating and maintaining conversations. Observed social anxiety, the stable tendency to experience this anxiety, may differ from situational anxiety. It can also be a momentary response to a specific social stimulus.
- About 90% of individuals, most of whom are women, report feeling social anxiety at some point in their lives.
- About half of all individuals with social anxiety disorder meet the criteria for social anxiety disorder.
- Age, culture, and gender influence the severity of the disorder. Among the functions of social anxiety are increased motivation and attention to social interaction, inhibition of unwanted social behavior, and motivational preparation for future social situations.
Step Away:-
The world does not end, nor does business. Move away, re-evaluate yourself and come back to it, you will come back when you are willing or happy to come back. Don’t think that you can’t disappear from social media. For those who are important, there are other ways to connect with your customers and perhaps use this time to focus on the creative side of the business. Involve yourself with something else this time. Those who like your work and want to connect will be with you. Those who left were not interested anyway. Let them go.
Be Selective:-
It is impossible to always manage different channels and at the right time, always get the right information and useful content. If you have a particular choice for a particular channel, focus on it and try to make meaningful connections! Similarly there are many people here who are interested and to connect. For example, personally, I don’t mind Twitter because of its more conversational style, and I’m not obliged to post a picture. Focusing on our strengths can reduce stress and reduce feelings of fear and overwhelm.
Less is more:-
It is not important to post 3-4 times a day to increase followers. Post if you have anything to say. No need to post too many times a day, it can lead to unwanted stress. In this case having a good network of 200 people instead of thousands is more useful and having a small curated group of ‘friends’ will ensure that the feed is free from anything that can cause violence, competition and frustration, and you will only see things in your feed that Gives pleasure.
Be creative:-
At this time it is better to stay away from phone, computer or any other media device Use a sketchbook, a diary or join a pottery class, take a cooking class, do art! Take a break and get well and give yourself some digital detox, or try and focus on building the foundation of your business and where your true passion lies. If you are not online on social media, you can trust your instincts a lot. You must not constantly doubt yourself or compare yourself with others. Having time alone is very important to be creative.
Be Authentic:-
This is what I struggle with the most on social media. This is a personality that people can easily accept. You need to be reminded that what you read and see online is not always true, it is just a glimpse of someone’s reality and not the sum total. If this is your social network, then it really matters that you are yourself, your true self. Believe in yourself, and remember your brand is you… When posting, interacting and engaging with social media, be yourself. Being genuine and true to ourselves can be so refreshing and can reduce the pressure you put on yourself…
Stay away from negativity:-
Limit yourself to social media within a certain period of time each day. Turn off or mute your notifications. Schedule social media breaks. Unfollowing accounts that make you feel bad. Blocking haters. This way you can stay away from negativity. Think positive, be positive and stay happy…
