Are you frustrated for not getting any interviews after submitting your resume? Maybe it’s not because you’re unqualified or not good enough. It’s more likely because of your resume mistakes.  Job hunters, use caution! Because it just takes one person to put a stop to your job quest.

As you write your resume make sure it doesn’t include any of these most common but important resume mistakes listed below :

  1. Including a Professional summary instead of an objective

A resume objective is a brief statement about what you’re hoping to achieve in your career while a professional summary describes your unique qualifications to show employers how you can benefit their organization as a new employee. But if you are fresher than you can include your career objectives which can align with the job roles you are applying for. Remember, it should not exceed over 3 or 4 sentences.

  1. Don’t use the same resume for all applications

For each job application, your resume should be specified for that particular role in the job. In that case, you can create a master resume template and then customize your resume including specific keywords and phrases from your job description, which can help your resume pass an applicant tracking system (ATS).

  1. Update your  contact information

It is very important to update your contract for at least six months so that the employers can contact you for an interview if you are selected for that job. It can be your phone number, location, or email address.

  1. Avoid grammatical or formatting errors

Before sending a resume to employers, carefully review it for errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation because an all-written resume shows your professionalism and creates a positive impression on the employers. There are many processing software online application tools to read resumes for any grammatical or spelling errors. Or you can cross-take by any professional home you know. Also, check the phone type color you use in the resume, and don’t get overwhelmed by the design rather than the content( skills and qualifications)  in your resume.

  1. Must Use  Action Verbs

Steer clear of terms like “responsible for.” Use action verbs instead. It makes your CV better. For example:

Without action verb:  I answered questions our customers at about company technology on the phone

With action verb: Identified technical issues for 100 clients and offered solutions.

  1. Including stats or quantified data

The true language of business is numbers. Data-driven decisions are used by all successful businesses and organizations. Not including any real material on a resume is a common writing error. Don’t use ambiguous positive language; instead, use data and numbers. As long as those figures are correct, substitute “97% team satisfaction rate” for “excellent team leader.” Recall that to draw in hiring managers, you should also highlight measurable accomplishments.

  1. Avoid buzzwords

To make your CV more ATS-friendly, always incorporate keywords from the job posting.  But those keywords should sound natural. Don’t use a bunch of annoying buzzwords because it is the most common turn-off for the recruiter to hire you. Use keywords very wisely and make them flow naturally which makes sense to the particular job role you’re applying for.

If you consider these 7 mistakes and update your resume at least you can ensure an interview call by your resume to the job role you are applying for.  Good luck!
