Have you ever felt this feeling when looking at an innocent child? It seems like all the peace in the world is in their life; how beautifully and comfortably they are sleeping! But my sleep is like a museum piece of primitive art. How many countless nights have passed, staring at the ceiling in despair of not being able to sleep, is beyond calculation; maybe you have tried the old-fashioned method of giving them warm milk to sleep or pressing your eyes while scrolling through your phone until your eyes hurt. Still, the fate of sleep has not helped? Don’t be upset because you are not alone in the series of not being able to sleep, but the entire generation is suffering, especially the generation of Gen Z. In this era of technological advancement, a good night’s sleep is a luxury for everyone. So let’s try to create a simple and beautiful sleep habit like a child by following some methods to turn this luxury into a habit.
How long can you keep shedding tears thinking about your future and past mistakes at 3-4am like this, right?
Eliminate the habit of scrolling before going to bed.
We are all guilty of staying up all night using our mobile phones and being on social media, but we cannot get out of this habit. We make thousands of excuses like, “I will turn it off now,” “This is the last episode,” and “I will not watch it again.” Hours pass by, and the clock strikes midnight for our sleep to end! The problem is that technological equipment like TVs, mobile phones, or laptops basically emits a kind of blue light that stimulates our brains and makes us think it is daytime, due to which sleep completely disappears. So what is the solution in this case?
The solution is not to increase the time a little bit more, but to definitely stop screen time at least one to one and a half hours before going to bed, either by force or by taking help in this case, by meditating or reading a book, or an easier solution is to lie down quietly, closing your eyes. Keep relaxing and help sleep come!
Maintaining a specific routine: Let’s start with a question. Have you ever observed children maintaining a specific pattern during sleep? They listen to a sweet story or swing to sleep like magic; it’s like a fairy tale. The reason for this incredible magic is that their body is getting used to a specific rhythm and maintaining a beautiful consistency. So it is definitely important to set a consistent sleep schedule, go to bed at a specific time, and wake up at a specific time, and even maintain this consistency during the weekend; yes, the task is difficult, but this consistency plays a crucial role in training the body to return to a normal sleep pattern.
Creating a comfortable sleeping environment:
The complete benefit of anything depends above all on the environment, so why not during sleep? A cool breeze, absolute silence, and a comfortable and soft bed with soft light are an environment like a dream paradise, right? Yes, this paradise is necessary for a complete sleep. Good sleep depends on the lighting in the bedroom, the variation of air, the calculation of silence and shadow, pillows, curtains, and even the bedsheets. What kind of effect will the outside or sunlight have during sleep, or how much impact can sound have? Above all, how inviting your bed can entertain you to sleep is important in every regard. And only if these are properly evaluated, no one can prevent you from falling asleep.
The remaining two tips can be summarized without separating them. One is to relax the mind and body, and the other is to monitor your eating habits before going to sleep. These two do not require much explanation, but they are also necessary for a full night’s sleep.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that whether it is a joke or a pretense to call sleep a luxury, sleep is actually not a luxury but a very important need and necessity of the human body. If a child can enjoy sleep comfortably, why can’t an adult? Yes, it is true that with age, our body follows a certain pattern due to work and responsibility and age-appropriate use. That does not mean that all normal habits that are necessary to keep the body active, called sleep, should be thrown away. So now is the time to try the mentioned techniques. And if this does not work either, at least pretend to be asleep; it cannot be said that maybe your brain has become accustomed to it and brought you to a restless sleep.
So have a sweet dream.
