“Justice will prevail only, until one fears getting caught” is a very famous quote by Greek philosophers.
Light Yagami and his counterpart L, both have the same idealism that they are the one who will do justice. But did they really succeed?
The manga, “Death Note” was written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata in 2003. Then it was picturized into an anime series in 2006. It is a famous anime series that almost everyone begins their journey of watching anime with this one.
It is so good for the beginner as an anime lover. This series is complex and has a thought provoking storyline that will compel you to think what will be the next move from the significant characters of the manga, even if you know all the planning of them.
The series is so suspenseful that you can’t even predict what’s next. Because of the complexity it holds, it has become too popular and a masterpiece that will be recommended to watch by every anime fan.
This series has so many dynamic insights, a clash between an ideal detective and an intelligent vigilante has been a legendary discussion to be solved.
People who love anime are debating on this rivalry between the detective L and the brilliant Light day after day. It’s like a war among fans to discover who is smarter, who is justice?
Light Yagami, the lead character of this series is a school topper whose personality was actually quite boring.
He used to maintain all the routines of his life and to be an ideal child of his parents who topped in the class. But suddenly his life took a turn. It was a notebook which made such changes in his life.
Yes, it was the “Death Note”. Death note is the notebook by which you can kill a person by knowing his actual name and by imagining his face in your head while writing his name on Death Note. And Light has become the owner of that supernatural notebook.
He has initially started using the power to kill the criminals. He has made the best use of the Death Note. But the quote mentioned in the very first line has been reality.
He started drowning into greed. Greed of being God, greed of being the “Kira”.
L- Lawliet is a quirky but genius detective assigned to find out who Kira is. He is also an intelligent powerhouse who is delegated to the exposure of Kira.
He has made every possible investigation, inquiry, and research to stop Kira from killing people. He is so smart to find that out. But he has lacked the evidence that brought him to a miserable ending.
Detective L is a very mysterious character that can’t even sit properly on a chair and drinks tea with extra sugar. Makers have portrayed this character as a very clumsy, enigmatic person whose background is always a secret.
L vs Light is a battle between two intelligent powerhouses who took the responsibility of bringing justice in society. Anime fans have also made the battle so legendary that these two characters are considered as the most genius characters among all the anime characters.
Let’s go deeper inside the discussion that from where the battle actually had been started.
Light Yagami was killing the criminals throughout his journey of being Kira with the help of his “Death Note” and the Shinigami named Ryuk.
Shinigami can only be seen by the owner of the notebook which is inspired by Greek mythology. His motive has been so clear and he’s been dedicated to be the next God. But this shouldn’t happen.
In our society, ideals have always been appreciated. Morality should be above all. So, L has come to the scene. L works with a team. He has made better use of his assets unlike Light.
Light enjoys reducing bad people from the world, whereas L has made people around him as a force to find the Kira. He has used the excellent skills of Aiber and Wedy, investigation agents, though he lives alone.
L has narrowed down Kira’s location to Japan’s Kanto region, as Light often uses his own bedroom as Kira’s “Head Quarter ” during his battle with L. But I couldn’t find any further than that. He never got close to penetrating the intelligent Kira’s defenses.
Light was so clever that he tricked everyone including his own father who was the head of the National Police Agency. He has even used the eyes of Misa’ Shinigami to kill L.
He has never actually found out the real name of L. He has made his moves so cleverly that has actually made him the winner in the battle. But the question arises that is he justified? Not really.
Vigilantes most often think they are making the best choice by taking the law into their own hands. Unluckily, they are totally wrong. Ultimately, justice will prevail at the end. This has not been different in Light’s case.
At last, Light has been defeated by Near cruelly. In the race of becoming “The Next God”, he has ended up like an ordinary human. So there’s actually no ending of the argument that who is superior and who is the smartest between L and Light.
