When we try to learn something or memorize something, it gets saved in our short term memory at first. Then when we try to revise that again and again it gets saved into our long term memory at last. But if i tell you today that there are some learning methods that can make you memorize your academic pleasurable subjects easily without shortening your memory significantly, will you believe?
Lets Jump to the Point of Learning
There will be 4 categories for all over academic subjects in divided to head up your mind on focusing on learning—
The first category :
Understanding Concepts based subjects –
There are some subjects that involve understanding concepts. This thing involves subjects like physics, thermodynamics and economics which requires deep understanding to grasp their concepts. The trick which can be used in this is that of Feynman Technique. Fynman is a nobel prize winning physicist who, while studying in his university, discovered a technique that has become very famous in today’s times which helps you learn something very easily. He made a notebook and wrote down the topic which he was trying to understand. He studied about the topic and tried explaining it in his own words on a blank page. After writing it he explained it in words loudly. It has been scientifically proven that speaking out loud ensures a better understanding.
The second category :
Memorization based subjects –
This includes subjects like civics, history, law, biology, medicine all the subjects that involve rote learning. The first thing that you need to understand about our memory is that whatever our brains see or write it can’t retain the written text very well.
What are the things that our brains can retain well?
First is – Emotional Things.
Second is– Multiple senses.
Third is – Memory palace
This technique is effective when you have to learn a lot of things together. You can memorize a thing by creating an emotional or weird story line with multiple senses in your memory.
The third category :
Languages-
Languages can be weak points of many because it’s not something to learn in 10-20 days. Language requires everyday learning in small quantities and lots of practice.
It can be divided into 4 levels. Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
Reading and listening can be practiced everyday easily. DUOLINGO can be the best app to practice these two things.
Speaking is something that is tough to learn by staying at home. There is a wonderful suggestion of an app to practice with named CAMBLY. It’s an app on which you can have a one on one talk with native english speakers on a video call. This is the best way to learn any language because what could be better than talking to a native speaker?
The fourth category :
Application based subjects –
It involves problem solving and question solving. The theory in this category is small. The problems and questions are more in number. This includes subjects like Math, Accounting and Mechanism. There is only one trick to solve them and that is practice, practice and practice. In fact it requires so much practice that you can ignore the theory most of the time.Just recognise the pattern by solving example solving questions and try to imitate those.
Bonus Trick –
Sometimes it so happens that you are reading something but you lose concentration and everything goes above your head. A possible solution in this case would be trying to go to the depth of studying that “why are you actually reading this? What’s the history behind this? Who actually made this thing?”
Now I guess you would have learnt “learning”. What is the way to learn or accelerate your learning curve? How to study actually!
