Can you remember the last time something made you really angry and you burst out with fury and somehow it made the already bad situation worse? Didn’t you think for a moment that everything would be fine if I didn’t react that way in such a situation? In such a hectic day of our lives, as children, siblings, students, job holders, some situations or people can bring out the worst in us.
Unprocessed emotions and feelings can have a lasting effect in our personal and social life. As many decisions that we take throughout our life are based on what we feel and our reaction to a specific event.
Anger management helps us to understand the underlying cause and how to deal with anger. Most of the time Anger can be the reason for many problems, it can cause many relations to be strained. Anger management can show us how to handle and control anger in a healthy way so that it doesn’t harm any aspect of our life.
There are many ways to manage your anger like
- Looking into what is making you angry. Learn what the triggers of anger, quick heartbeat, high blood pressure, sweaty friends etc. are physical signs of anger.
- The best way to deal with anger is not talking in the heat of the moment and to take a break. If you cannot leave the situation then it’s best to stay silent.
When we don’t process our emotions we tend to have emotional outbursts which in the long run is not good for any situation. To regulate this intense emotion of anger you can do something to divert your mind and put you in a calming place.
- You can go for a walk, put on some music, or just focus on many deep breathing exercises.
It is important to keep in mind when we are communicating how we feel or what has triggered our anger we can remember not to blame or talk in a tone of attack. You can calmly and clearly state the reason why you are angry and try to conclude and reach the middle ground when being in a discussion.
There are plenty of ways to control one’s anger. Some tips include :
- Working out everyday can significantly boost your mood as your body releases a hormone called “Endorphins”. Working out is a proven way to release stress. There are also at-home exercises like yoga, Pilates, and breathing exercises that are great at regulating hormones, which ultimately help you to control your anger.
- Getting a good night’s sleep for 8 to 9 hours each day can uplift your mood and can help you process emotions better.
Learn to keep your feelings regulated. If hanging out with certain people brings out the anger in you, it’s best to avoid that situation altogether. If situations and people who bring out your anger are unavoidable, make other adjustments to control your emotions as mentioned above.
We can understand that dealing with these kinds of sensitive issues can be tough or difficult for all of us. Sometimes, situations become so overwhelming that we can’t figure out what to do, even though we’re trying to control our own negative emotions and stay happy with the people around us.
