The objectives of Canadian immigration are to support the economy, reunite families, and aid refugees. Immigrants make about 23% of the population of Canada. The Canadian government welcomes over 400,000 immigrants each year. Minister Sean Fraser of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) unveiled a new strategy on November 1, 2022, with the goal of bringing in 1,450,000 immigrants between 2023 and 2025. Through the PNP, Canada anticipates welcoming 105,500 new permanent residents in 2023.
There are four possibilities for obtaining permanent residence in Canada for international students. Let us look into it.
- Express entry
Students who are employed can choose this option. We manage skilled worker immigration applications using Express Entry, an online system. There are three parts to this category.
Those who have three years of work experience in Canada can choose the Canada Experience Class. The second category is the Federal Skilled Worker Program, which is for qualified individuals with prior experience working abroad who wish to move permanently to Canada. Finally, the department in charge of immigration to Canada, IRCC, administers the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) Express Entry immigration program.
For anyone in the international trade industry with experience in legitimate trade jobs seeking Canadian immigration, the FSWP program is specifically designed for the professional portfolio (FSTP).
2. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
This program, which was established in 1998, is intended for employees who possess the knowledge, training, and work experience necessary to boost the local economy in a given province or territory. This program’s application price, which includes the right of residence charge, is around $1300.
Your chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence will significantly increase if you are nominated by a province through the Express Entry program. You will also gain access to a six-month processing standard.
As a provincial nominee, you must:
- Be nominated under one of the non-Express Entry streams offered by the province or territory.
- Meet the stream’s minimal requirements
3. Post-graduate work permit
Students who have graduated from qualified Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs) are allowed to apply for an open work visa through the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) Program, which enables them to get worthwhile Canadian work experience.
- They have successfully finished a degree, diploma, or certificate-granting academic, vocational, or professional training program that was at least 8 months long at an authorized Canadian institution.
- They have maintained full-time student status in Canada during each academic session of the program or programs of study they have completed and submitted as part of their post-graduation work permit application. Exceptions can be made only for the following:
- Leave from studies
- Final academic session
- They have received a transcript and an official letter from the eligible DLI confirming that they have met the requirements to complete their program of study.
4. Family class sponsorship
You might be able to sponsor a spouse or family to immigrate to Canada if you’re a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
A contract with the federal government must be signed, along with documentation demonstrating your ability to:
- Provide for the basic needs of yourself and your family, including food, clothing, and shelter.
- Financially assist your sponsored family member.
- Verify that the sponsored relative won’t require financial assistance from the government.
In conclusion, Canada provides its immigrants with the most opportunities possible including job, study, job while studying as well. Therefore, if this opportunity catches your eyes, you shouldn’t miss out on this. For more queries, do put your questions in the comments.
