Do you remember the famous Bollywood movie “Bhool Bhulaiyaan”? The 2007 psychological horror comedy-drama, Bhool Bhulaiyaa is the remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu.

The palace at the core of the story’s action is said to be haunted by the ghosts of two lovers who were killed by a cruel monarch. Indian culture, where science and spirituality coexist, is thrillingly captured in the film. Later it is discovered that the “ghost” that stalked the palace at night was actually a new family member named Avni. After getting involved, a doctor determines that Avni has a Disorder of several personalities or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). You must now have a general notion of the blog’s subject. It is a widely known syndrome but do you want to know the details? If yes, then you are in the right place!!!!!

What is actually known as several personalities or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)?

Multiple personality disorder (MPD) or multiple personality syndrome (MPS), also referred to as dissociative identity disorder (DID), is a psychiatric condition that is defined by the existence of two or more different and largely stable personality states. Memory gaps that are more severe than those that could be explained by regular forgetfulness accompany the condition. The personality states alternately manifest in a person’s conduct; the condition is presented in different ways, though.

A lot of movies and television shows have been made on people who have multiple personalities or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) but what do you think about the prevalence of DID? How widespread is DID?

So the answer is, DID is very uncommon. Between 0.01 and 1% of the population are impacted by the disorder. At any age, it can happen. DID is more common in women than in men.

Have you ever become aware of the adverse symptoms this condition hides? If not, then please have a look now!!!

A DID sufferer has two or more unique identities. The person’s typical personality makes up their “core” identity. The person’s alternative selves are their “Alters.” Some DID sufferers have as many as 100 alters. Alters frequently differ greatly from one another. The identities may differ in terms of gender, ethnicity, interests, and interactions with their surroundings. Anxiety, delusions, depression, disorientation, drug or alcohol misuse, and self-harming behaviors are some more prevalent DID signs and symptoms.

When it comes to discuss this disorder’s complications, I would have to say that there are a ton of them! We saw how tragic events were in the movie “Bhool Bhulaiyaan” also ! This caused the couple a lot of problems. So without further sound and fury, let’s talk about the complications:

Without therapy, a person with a dissociative illness may experience the following complications: Personal problems including strained relationships and job loss, Sexual issues, such as incontinence, and issues with sleep significant depression, disorders of anxiety, eating disorders like bulimia or anorexia, self-harm, alcoholism, and problematic substance use, including suicide. So you can realize how many problems the disease can bring into someone’s life.

Okay now that I have talked about the symptoms and complications behind this disorder! Don’t you want to know the real cause??????  There are causes hidden in every disorder so this disorder is no different!!! Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is brought on by what? What do you think? Think a bit now!!

Well, What if I enlighten you about this now? I would say that based on scientific research typically, childhood sexual or physical trauma leads to DID. It can also appear after a war or other traumatic occurrences, such as a natural disaster. A person may use the disorder as a means of separating themselves from the experience.

So we can realize that the causes are sometimes caused by our own surrounding people. Hence, do you think there is any prevention well then the answer is given below –

It is impossible to prevent DID according to research. However, recognizing the symptoms as early as possible in life and getting therapy might help you control problems finding the causes of personality or identity changes might also be aided by treatment. Stress or substance addiction are frequent triggers. Managing your stress and abstaining from drugs and alcohol may help you experience behavioral changes less frequently.

But there are some treatments for this disorder. Depression and anxiety are two DID symptoms that some medicines may help with. But psychotherapy is the most successful kind of treatment. Therapy focuses on: Recognizing and healing from prior abuse or trauma, and managing unexpected changes in behavior. Creating a new identity by combining many identities.

Therefore, if any of your loved ones are experiencing these symptoms, please consult a doctor right away. Don’t label them as “psychopaths.” You can never predict the extent of one’s suffering from psychological problems. Only a doctor can recommend a mental health specialist who can assist someone in getting better and developing effective coping mechanisms.
