According to many studies, music therapy can reduce peoples depression by reducing the symptoms of depression. 

Music can also release dopamine. Dopamine is a kind of hormone which makes people happy, feels good. Listening to music also releases endorphins. Endorphins are also a kind of hormone  that can make our mood happy and relieve pain. 

Before music therapy

A music therapist can strengths the persons by discussing some skills or abilities of the patients such as:

  • Mental and intellectual skills
  • Perceptual skills

  • Musical skills or musical background etc.

  • Sing music: during this therapy a patins can sing a song. Just to make the situation more comfortable.
  • Listen to music: while listening to music, enjoying the lyrics is also helpful.
  • Discuss about the lyrics: a patient can discuss the lyrics and its meaning to his or her therapists. 
  • Also create music: during the session a patient can write lyrics on his own and also compose it.
  • Play instruments: during the therapy there will be many music instruments. So a patient can take an instrument like guitar and play on his own. 

After the therapy

After this therapy, the therapist’s duty is to evaluate the effectiveness of the music therapy. After that he will determine the goal of this therapy whether it is met or not. 

Music therapy also works in children 

Music therapy is not only for adults with many diseases but also for children. Children can get the help of music in various ways. Such as:
