If you ever watched Tom Cruise “Mission:Impossible; Dead Reckoning Part-1” then you may know that the main antagonist of this film wasn’t a human but an AI software.

This AI’s name was Entity in the film which was so powerful that it was omnipresent.

It could manipulate humans however it wanted and mathematically it could predict 1 week or 1 day ahead situations or future through the mass surveillance.

This AI outperformed humans in nearly all tasks undertaken.

This form of AI is known as AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) ; which refers to “a computer system that can do any job or task that a human does but only better.”

In today’s generation chat gpt, mid journey are classified in the category of Weak AI. They excel in specific tasks. But AGI is something more.

Establishment for AGI concept:

In 2015, a non profit OpenAI was established that had the only mission to develop an AGI for the benefit of humans.

There were many big tech entrepreneurs behind this establishment including Sam Altman & Elon Musk. On November 17,2023 the board of Directors unexpectedly fired Sam.

What was the reason behind this decision?

As we said before, This company was made keeping in mind to be non-profit and only the duty towards humanity neither towards investors nor its employees but in 2019 when Sam became CEO, he made a subsidiary company named OpenAI Global LLC which works for limited profit. The controller will be the main company.

Before firing Sam it was discovered that researchers working at OpenAI wrote a letter to the board of OpenAI in the concerns of using Q-star in AI that they are trying to develop.

On one side were Sam and president Greg who were encouraging this Q-star version of AI commercialization while on the other side, chief scientist Ilya who was obsessed with AI safety.

He was worried that eventually AGI systems would treat humans the way humans currently treat animals.

Now here is the main theme of this subject, what is Q-Star AI?

Q-star is the technique that involves AI learning through human feedback, continually improving its understanding of the environment and decision making.

If this thing is made AI can control car moves on the road, before the scenario of an election about results.

If OpenAI’s mysterious Q-star possesses such capabilities, it has the potential to make significant predictions about the future.

The thing which was shown in the Mission Impossible film might just be possible. This AGI can surpass human capabilities in decision making mathematically.

Those who wrote the letter to board members their fear was, if it were apprehensive about the direction OpenAI was heading, it would damage humanity more than benefit humanity.

There was a clear partition between two distinct factions within OpenAI.

They were working in opposite directions. Sam was focusing on upcoming launches, new versions of ChatGpt, AI softwares while Ilya was concentrating on enhancing AI safety within the company. Consequently, board members of OpenAI were with Ilya’s conservative approach.

As 90% of the employees of the company threaten board members to bring back Sam as CEO.

Even after some time, Ilya also signed the letter to bring Sam back because he thought if there were no employees and company where they would use safety precautions?

Eventually after the pressures they bring Sam back with some conditions.

But the Question Remains:

Will OpenAI lean more towards a for-profit approach or maintain its non-profit values? And how would it impact the AGI development?

Only time can give answers. One certainly is that “AI Isn’t going anywhere”. It has become an integral part of our world.

The sooner you adapt using it, the easiest it would be for you to stay ahead in this rapidly changing world.
