Favorite characters
Hu Ge as Mei Changsu/ Lin Shu
The depth and aura Hu Ge adds to the character of Mei Changsu make us root for him right from the start. Mei Changsu, a frail and sickly scholar works his way up to the top of the Langya list and becomes the leader of the Jiangzuo Clan. Mei Changsu returns to the capital to bring justice to the Chiyan martyrs and to put Prince Jingyan on the throne against all odds. Hu Ge’s expression and vocal tone make him a highly intelligent individual yet so relatable.
Liu Tao as Princess Nihuang
Liu Tao is compelling and independent in her character. Liu Tao by every means looked like the beautiful royal princess and the irreplaceable support from Mei Changsu’s side.
Wang Kai as Prince Jing/ Xiao Jingyan
Wang Kai fits perfectly as the upright and straightforward Prince Jingyan. He does absolute justice to his character with his superb acting skills and deep voice. Jingyan’s fight for the throne begins right after he accepts Mei Changsu as his strategist. Wang Kai effortlessly plays Jingyan as the symbol of righteousness and justice.
Others
Wu Lei as Fei Liu
Wu Lei played Fei Liu at the age of 15 only. Despite Fei Liu’s mental abnormality, he follows Mei Changsu everywhere like his shadow, and loves him unconditionally.
Chen Long as Commander Meng Zhi
Chen Long plays Meng Zhi to perfection. He is the Commander of the imperial guards. The combination of courage, loyalty, leadership and military skills and silliness make him a cutie pie.
