Bangladesh is a reservoir of natural beauty. 

Wild flowers of various colors can be seen throughout the year in the nature of Bangladesh. 

At least several thousand species of flowers bloom in Bangladesh. 

Among the flowers of Bangladesh, roses, jasmine, tuberoses, water lilies, peacocks flowers etc. are the most famous. 

But there are some flowers that people are not so familiar with. 

So, I am going to introduce some unknown flowers in today’s blog.

 

White Orchid Tree

But the name White Orchid Tree is great. This flower is a special species of orchid. This flower is perfect for decorating the garden as it looks amazing.

White Orchid Tree plant grows 2-3 meters high, leaves 15 cm long and 12 cm wide. The plant is bushy in shape and white flowers bloom from March to October.

 

Indian rose chestnut / Cobra’s saffron 

The Indian rose chestnut or Cobra’s saffron flower is native to South America but this flower is widespread all over the world. 

Bangladesh is not out of it. 

Interestingly, this flower has been growing in India for about two to three thousand years. 

So India can be considered as its place of origin. 

Indian rose chestnut tree is a tree-like plant, growing up to about 25 meters tall. The plants are mainly planted for fast growth and stunning flowers. 

The flowers show an array of colors like orange, bright red, pink etc. 

The fragrance of Cobra’s saffron is also mind-blowing.

 

Golden Magnolia Flower

The golden-yellow Magnolia flower is more common in the highlands but it also blooms occasionally in the plains. 

Golden Magnolia flower is often noticed in the northern part of Bangladesh. 

The stems of golden-flowered plants are gray, elevated and simple. 

The leaves are flat,dense and bright green in color.

The color of golden-yellow flowers varies but yellow flowers are most common in Bangladesh. 

Depending on the weather, soil and surrounding conditions, the Golden Magnolia flower blooms in different colors. 

Flowering period is from early summer to monsoon-autumn.

 

Arrow Leaf Pondweed

Many people confuse this flower with water hyacinths.

Water hyacinths and Arrow Leaf Pondweed belong to the same genus but the flowers are different.

Arrow Leaf Pondweed is our local flower. The difference between this flower and other aquatic plants is that its stem is embedded in the ground under water, not floating. 

A lot of Arrow Leaf Pondweed

flowers can be seen in lakes, swamps, wetlands, monsoon paddy fields, etc. in Bangladesh

This flower is also eaten as a vegetable in rural areas. 

Its roots and bark are very useful in the treatment of toothache, dysentery etc.

 

Snakeroot / Serpentine wood

Snakeroot / Serpentine wood is mainly known for its medicinal properties. 

This flower is also known as Java devil pepper. 

This flower is more common in the hillside region of Bangladesh. 

Snakeroot / Serpentine wood

herbaceous, flowers clustered. 

Serpentine wood juice is very useful in brain diseases. 

So many people know this flower as medicine for the crazy. 

The plant contains alkaloids, which are particularly effective against snake venom and spider bites, which also regulate blood pressure.

 

Flowers are used from time immemorial as a token of love, gift, respect, and gratitude. 

Flowers also serve us for many purposes and we use flowers on different occasions. 

As flowers make our country beautiful, we should take care of them. 

So many people cultivate flowers for economic purposes. 

The government should take a step to encourage more people to take flower cultivation and sell flowers as a profession. 

As a result, many unemployed people could have changed their luck by cultivating flowers.
