We’ve all experienced stress at different times in our lives, and it’s a common part of our busy lives. But to know how to effectively manage it, is the biggest skill. Stress can arise from various sources like university, college, or school tasks, from personal problems, responsibilities, or many more reasons.
It has become an important life skill to know how to deal with stress or else stress can have major health deteriorating effects in our life.
The first step in managing stress is to identify what’s making you feel stressed. We should be aware of and understand the source of our stress so that we can take the right actions to deal with it.
Breathing techniques: Methodical breathing can help us calm down in a stressful situation. To calm your nervous system, it is important to take deep breaths or inhale through one’s nose, hold it for 4 seconds, and exhale through one’s mouth for 4 seconds.
Exercise regularly: Exercises are known to help boost Endorphins in our brains, which naturally reduce stress. Try to incorporate exercise for at least 30 minutes most days of the week into your daily routines.
Maintain a Healthy Diet: Eating well is crucial for managing stress. It’s important to have a balanced diet that includes plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Try to limit your intake of caffeine, processed foods, and sugary treats since they can make stress worse.
Get enough sleep: A healthy amount of rest beats all the stress! Not getting enough sleep can make you feel more jittery and restless which then introduces stress in our daily activities. It is important to ensure to have proper sleep for about 8 to 9 hours daily.
Set Realistic Goals : Many of our stressful situations arise from not being able to meet our goals on time. To tackle this, we should Break our tasks into smaller, manageable steps, and avoid putting too much pressure on ourselves.
Time Management : effective time management can be a way to manage stress. Put tasks in order of importance, delegate when you can, and use time management tools like the Pomodoro method to stay on task and reduce stress. To develop time management skills, you can join various types of organizations or work in a professional setting. Working in such organizations will make it easy for you to acquire this skill. Additionally, communicating with different groups of people in these organizations will also help you become successful in managing stress.
Stay connected : Nourish your spirit and say goodbye to stress! We tend to be stress free when we are around our loved ones. Being around family, friends, or a group of people whom you can talk to, can really help you with the relief of stress.
Do Things That Help You to Be Relax : Hobbies are a great way to help manage stress. Hobbies help us relax and make us less stressful. Do things you enjoy that help you unwind, like reading, listening to music, gardening, or anything else.
Limit the amount of information you get : Getting news and social media all the time can be stressful. Think about taking breaks from screens and putting limits on how much knowledge you take in.
Learn to say no : It is always better to stay within our capacity of doing things and knowing when to say no can help to tackle the extra pressure from either work or academic or responsibilities.
There will be many stressful situations in our lives but we should be mindful about it and make the best possible decisions to manage the stress accordingly and it will make our life more beautiful.
