There’s a plethora of misconceptions surrounding the concept of “test tube babies” these days. Countless women struggling with infertility have successfully conceived children through this method. However, the term “test tube” often leads to misunderstanding, as it’s more accurately described as a medical procedure. Numerous couples choose this approach to overcome infertility hurdles.

In contemporary society, infertility issues among women are on the rise, prompting many to pursue test tube treatments as a solution. In this blog we will discuss the intricacies of test tube procedures to dispel any misinformation and gain a better understanding of the process.

What is a test tube?

Test tubes are usually a medical procedure. Many are able to conceive using this procedure. Many women in today’s world are facing increasing infertility problems. Its rate is 10 to 15 percent all over the world. Many couples opt for test tube babies to get rid of infertility problems.

Test tube method is a method of conception outside the human body. A test-tube baby is a term that describes an embryo that develops in a test tube rather than a fallopian tube. Eggs and sperm are fertilized in a laboratory dish and this process of fertilization takes place in a glass or petri dish. It is called in vitro fertilization (Wiki). Hence the test tube baby technique is called in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

What is IVF?

Test tube babies are usually obtained through IVF procedures. In short, the test tube and IVF method and fertilization process are the same. In this method, the woman’s mature egg is taken out very carefully laparoscopically. It is then stored in the lab after processing. And the male sperm is collected in exactly the same way. Later, a batch of sperm of the best variety is selected through special processing in the lab.

By using this procedure, the doctors released a large number of live and highly active spermatozoa into the petri dish of the fertilized ovum. This petri dish of eggs and sperm is then stored in an incubator that mimics the environment of the mother’s womb. A 48- to 24-hour observation in the incubator indicates the success of embryo formation after fertilization. And after this embryo is created it is sent through a special tube to implant in the uterus. This is how a newborn is born.

What is infertility?

Many people may not have children naturally in their married life. There are various reasons for this. It is one of the environmental and physical problems. Infertility rates are increasing due to lifestyle changes, non-communicable diseases and environmental changes. And it has been observed that the rate is increasing in men as compared to women. However, many people try to get rid of the problem of infertility by having a test tube. In a normal child birth process, 80 percent of couples have a baby within the first year of trying. And in many cases, 10 percent of couples have a baby in the second year. The remaining 10 percent have some problems.

As a result, they need test tube treatment. One equation showed that in 40 percent of the cases, only the husband was responsible. And in 40 percent cases only the wife is responsible. Again in 20 percent cases both husband and wife are responsible. It is one of the most significant causes of infertility. Lack of ovulation in women, many also have problems with the walls of the ovaries due to which sperm cannot enter the ovaries. Again, when the ovaries are closed or not functioning, it becomes a problem. And in men, there are various reasons including low sperm count, abnormal sperm motility.

Test tube baby and IVF baby process

Test tube baby and IVF are two types of procedures. In today’s era, our standard of living has become much easier due to the advancement of technology. Almost all of us use technology. Along with this, our medical standards are also increasing. Couples who conceive naturally use test tubes or other medical methods. However, in this treatment, test tube is one of them. Generally test tube and IVF mean the same, their fertilization process is also the same. For example:-

  • Ovarian stimulation.
  • Egg retrieval.
  • liquidation
  • Embryo transfer.
  • IVF pregnancy.

Currently, many couples are adopting this test tube method in Bangladesh. This treatment is also being used in other parts of the world. This is how test tube and IVF treatments are helping us.

Birth of a test tube baby

The birth of the test tube baby is now very effective. Many couples fail to conceive after trying. As a result, they are treated with drugs in the primary condition. Then if not, I recommend taking a test tube baby for them. Infertility acts as an important means of conceiving a child. Currently, the worldwide infertility rate is 10 to 15 percent.

And it is growing at around 12 percent in Bangladesh. Many people think that test tube babies are born in test tubes. This idea is not correct at all. A test tube baby is not an artificially born baby. Test tube is basically a medical procedure. There may also be religious barriers to artificial insemination. But this is not the case with the test tube baby. They are born naturally like other children. And grows in the world like others.

Test tube is a medical service. By this many couples are able to have children. In the developed countries of the world, the success rate of this process is 30-40 percent. But the success is the same in the five-six such centers in our country i.e. in Dhaka. In this process, only one advice to the patients is that they should be patient and get their treatment under the supervision of a competent doctor in a center.
