Part – 02
During this time, he worked on several acclaimed movies, including A Walk in the Clouds, Feeling Minnesota, Johnny Mnemonic, and Chain Reaction. Reeves appeared in three films in 1991, as an FBI agent in Kathryn Bigelow’s Point Break and a male prostitute in Gus Van Sant’s My Own Private Idaho, which also featured River Phoenix. However, none has proven as successful as Speed (1994).
Then, in 1997, Keanu responded again by starring in the film The Devil’s Advocate. Sharing the same screen with stars like Al Pacino and Charlize Theron is no longer a joke! Critics were also ecstatic with Keanu’s praise. Although some still believed he hadn’t given his all.
Then his career’s crucial moment occurred. The Matrix stood out from every other movie ever made when it was first released on March 31, 1999. This was one of the best science fiction films ever produced.
Mr. John Wick
Thanks to the sequels to Speed and The Matrix, Keanu Reeves briefly held the title of biggest movie star in the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Reeves, however, had mostly faded from the public eye by the decade’s end and into the 2010s. Then the John Wick franchise debuted. And it brought Keanu back into the spotlight. This film franchise introduces Keanu to Generation “Z”.
Few action movies can expect to leave behind a legacy like the first John Wick, which gained popularity after its 2014 release. That legacy, along with the many other variables that contribute to the film’s overall awesomeness, may just make it one of the best action films ever made.
The Wick movies, on the other hand, provide a more family-friendly substitute for superhero flicks. The John Wick franchise simply keeps outperforming itself at the box office with each new instalment, which took this franchise along with Keanu Reeves to the next level.
A man of Numerous Colours
His younger sister was diagnosed with leukaemia. Thankfully, she has been cured. After that, Keanu now donates 70% of his gains from “The Matrix” to hospitals to treat leukaemia. He donates a huge part of his income to charity.
Aside from acting, Reeves is a huge motorcycle fan. In 2011, he co-founded Arch Motorcycle Company as an outcome of his passion. The company specialises in custom-made motorcycles that are meticulously crafted and pay close attention to detail. Reeves actively engages in the design and development process, combining his aesthetic and mechanical engineering interests.
He is one of the only Hollywood stars without a mansion. Despite having a $300 million net worth, he still takes the train, has no bodyguards, and prefers a simple life for a movie star. “I’m okay with that,” he adds. “Money is the last thing I think about,” he said. “I could live on what I have already made for the next few centuries.”
Along with being a talented actor, Reeves enjoys reading and writing a lot. He provided prose to the novels Ode to Happiness and Shadows, both of which display his poetic and introspective sides. These writings provide readers with a glimpse into his philosophical ideas and allow them to connect with his inner thoughts.
He is well-known for his generous contributions, which he frequently makes anonymously to numerous humanitarian organisations. Furthermore, Reeves has contributed to organisations such as Stand Up to Cancer and the SickKids Foundation, displaying his desire to give back to society.
Even if Keanu Reeves’ story is tragic, it can nevertheless serve as motivation for others. His story shows that regardless of how successful someone may seem on the outside, you never know what they are going through on the inside. It also serves as a reminder of the value of perseverance in the face of disaster. Continue to move forward and keep going, and your story can inspire others.
As Peter Dinklage famously stated,
“Just keep going. Please don’t even bother asking. Don’t bother telling the world you are ready. Show it. Do it.”
