The engineering degree students in our country face a lot of challenges. Compared to the 20 years before, this exploitation and challenge has reached the sky limit now for which students are facing a lot of obstacles on the way to their desired career. In some cases, some students who do not want to go into engineering, by family force, get into this engineering field and thus they face challenges and exploitation.
Several rooted reasons are responsible. These reasons emphasize the good aspects of engineering. But some reasons are also depicted based on some bad aspects of our country.
Engineering subjects are diversified degrees!!
This is no doubt true that compared to other BSc subjects, an engineering subject is highly diversified based on its adversity of course curriculums. In engineering, there are courses in business, statistics, T, programming, machine and electrical courses, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and other sciences.
An engineer is considered to be analytically more capable due to its wide range of mathematical and problem-solving courses.
Students see this diversification and do not judge their skill, ability to go hard, and analytical ability to jump toward engineering. Later on, it becomes havoc for them to many where these types of students could avail themselves in a normal BSc subject or other subject and remain mentally good and focus towards building a nice career. Later on, it becomes an exploitation to them.
Pressure from the society
Especially in our Bangladeshi social structure, families tend to see their sons to be doctors or engineers not even thinking of their child’s choices and preferences or even their abilities.
For a child who wants to study music or arts, his or her desires are ignored by parents as these music or job subjects sadly hold a poor job infrastructure in our country.
As these children have a great interest in music or arts, will they find their interest in these engineering problems?
The answer to a high extent is a NO. Consequently, as they are forced by families to study engineering, they feel much more hazy and they are exploited. Sometimes they cannot come out with good scores.
So many degree-providing universities but not good lab facilities!!
There have been several public and private universities. The number of private universities is much more than public universities. Except for public and private universities, many private universities do not have good engineering laboratories. This poor infrastructure is not good and students do not get enough benefits from it.
Moreover, many private universities are not accredited which later on causes a lot of problems to the students.
A big crash for a specific hyped subject!!
Some subjects are seen to have a more desirability to students in the field of engineering and these desires ultimately raise the hype.
Most IT subjects are much hyped nowadays. And now due to the flourishing IT sector, jobs have also increased.
Due to overhyped nations, students are not judging their capabilities to get into these subjects whether they are interested or not. Consequently, every year a good number of IT graduates but the number of market qualitative students is very high, for which most engineering students’ merit gets wasted and they try to change their job sector path thereby.
These are mainly the predominant reasons for which engineering students are facing a lot of obstacles and exploitation. This exploitation is not a good culture, rather it has a bad impact on the mental health of the students and for these reasons, depression is a common fact in most students. Whatever the exploitation, many students who have a greater interest are going forward and doing well both in the country and abroad.
