In recent years, this industry has gained immense growth worldwide. Bangladesh is also seeing the growth of this phenomena.

Along with traditional sports like cricket, football etc, esports is getting popular in Bangladesh as the growth of technology and internet has thrived in the country.

There are some factors behind this booming growth of this industry; internet access, youth engagement, online community and championships are few to mention.

The scopes of Bangladesh in this sector are promising. 

  • Investment

Investment in this sector has a huge market. Esports is a multi billion industry. The global market is about 1.38 billion dollars.

Many renowned companies and brands are now investing. In this scenario, recently Airtel has jumped into this industry as a sponsor.

In the esports industry, China is one of the largest esports markets in the world. China’s mobile phone company Infinix has sponsored a championship at Jamuna Future park. 

  • Revenue

Through different competitions, Bangladeshi players are earning revenue. By online live streaming on Twitch or other streaming sources, revenue is getting in the country.

Advertising, endorsement, tickets and merchandise and many more scopes are there in this industry to flourish our revenue source.

  • Championship: 

Championships and tournaments are another source to earn a name. Esports is a regular game in Asian Games since 2022, first introduced in 2018 in Jakarta. 

“League of legends”, “Dota 2”, “PUBG”, “Fortnite”, “Valorant”, “ Gerena” are mostly played in tournaments.

In Bangladesh, there are frequently tournaments arranged and some recent tournaments are “Smart Bangladesh Gaming Fair”, “D1 cup Bangladesh”, “CSGO Lan tournament”. In these events, a huge amount of prize pool interests other players to come into this professional world of gaming.

  • Gaming Industry:

Rise of esports also influences the rise of gaming developers who are developing new games.

In Bangladesh there are several gaming developing studios that are contributing to this growth. 

Grameenphone Game Studio, Bitcake Studio, Studio Wasabi are a few pioneering gaming studios who are making new games and making their foot marks visible in the history of the country’s gaming industry.

Now the Bangladesh Government is showing interest to invest in this industry. Other online and offline courses are also provided to learn game developments.

Educational institutions also encourage students to learn game development and design. This helps to shape the local market of the gaming industry.

But why is there such hype in esports? Well the youth engagement and easy access to the internet could be a reason behind this hype.

As the world is connected through the internet, any kind of tournament encourages others to participate in these events.

Teach enthusiastic youths are more into these tournaments and professional players are getting paid to play in different tournaments.

Just like traditional sports, esports also require skills and potential to become a skilled player.

Along with patience, an esports player can acquire communication skills, build an online community and become a source to represent the country.

With the pace of evolving world technology, the gaming industry is also revolving. In this sector Bangladeshi players and developers have shown promising future.
