“Leave no one behind” (slogan of SDGs goal)
Sustainable Development Goal in short SDGs was formed for the well being of this world. Its aim is to transform the world and make it a better place to live. In the words of Gro Harlem:

In today’s world there are problems everywhere.
Among them, the hunger issue is the one of those which stands out the most. And that’s what SDGs goal 2 works for. This goal is about creating a world free of hunger by 2030. It has always been the most concerning issue of all time. In 2020, between 720 million and 811 million people suffered from hunger which was 161 million more than in 2019.
The number of people going hungry has always been rising but COVID-19 crisis has pushed those rising rates even higher.
A world with zero hunger can positively impact our economics, health, education, equality and social development. And for this reason to end hunger and to provide safe and nutritious food to all people SDGs working.
We are facing the greatest problem of our time. There are 828 million hungry people in the world and among them 349 million people suffering from severe hunger. To solve this issue SDGs going through some steps which are:
- Eliminate conflicts : Most of the hungriest people of the world live in the conflicted area. When there is war, conflict, sufficient food can’t reach the people of that place. And quite impossible to bring out all people from those places which makes it more necessary to stop conflicts.
- Reach out to people : The number of hungry people never stops increasing. To overcome hunger we need to reach out to the most vulnerable people. We need to protect the poorest people and those who are away from the developed world.
- Resilience against climate change : In today’s world drought, flooding, cyclone, flooding, hurricane became a common thing. As a result people from these disaster areas suffer the most from hunger. Constant disasters reduce people’s capacity to prepare for the next disaster.
- Reduce food waste : Every year we produce billions of foods but waste a big portion of it. This food also brings a loss of a big amount of dollars every year. We need to produce the exact amount of food that we actually need. It’s not okay to have people starving while throwing away food.
- Connect rural farmers to the market : The majority of farmers live in poverty. Because they can’t connect to the market properly, there is also a shortage of fertilizer and farming equipment.
There are many more steps that are being taken to reduce hunger such as Eliminate malnutrition in mothers and children, giving priority to nutritious food, proper nutrition for a child from their first 1000 days and many more.
SDGs are working hard to concur their goal by 2030 already many goals have been achieved in many countries. Through these goals we can hope to have a better world for us.
