Nowadays, living without a mobile phone has become challenging due to the integral role it plays in our daily lives.

What is Nomophobia“? 

The term “nomophobia” is the abbreviation for “no mobile phone phobia.” A phobia is described as an uncomfortable sensation brought on by the presence or absence of an object or circumstance. It’s the same with nomophobia. You can experience specific symptoms when you lose your phone, lose network connectivity, or run out of battery. Based on these symptoms, you can be diagnosed with “Nomophobia.”

Signs and symptoms :

Let’s look at the signs and symptoms that have been proven to precede nomophobia. The illness comes in both physical and psychological aspects. When you distance yourself  from your cell phone, you may experience unexpected anxiety, worry due to psychological causes. When you are unable to use your phone for an extended period, you may feel stressed. The physical symptoms of this condition are similar to those that people typically display in a frightening circumstance. For instance, respiratory problems or sudden shortness of breath. Another one of the disease’s physical symptoms is unconsciousness or excessive sweating.   Essentially, a person with nomophobia develops physical symptoms as a result of their psychological condition.

Causes :

There is extensive discussion surrounding the causes of nomophobia. However, everyone agreed that using mobile devices excessively was a bad idea. Experts claim that excessive reliance on mobile devices causes people to develop a form of addiction. People have developed a dependence on mobile phones ever since the emergence of social media. When someone addicted to their mobile phone suddenly loses it or can’t use it, they undergo unpleasant mental changes. Dopamine, one of our body’s most significant hormones, plays a role in nomophobia.

Nomophobia commonly affects adolescents. You can take proactive steps to combat this fear by waiting to use your mobile phone until after bedtime, leaving it at home for short periods, or abstaining from technology during specific times of the day. The purpose of technology is to enhance the comfort and quality of human life. When technology is misused, it can have disastrous effects since it makes daily life more difficult. To avoid this, it is important to take preventative measures.
