A good book is the best way to take yourself from darkness to light. Because of the importance of reading books, World Book Day is celebrated every year on 23rd April all over the world.

In 1995, this day was first celebrated by UNESCO. This day has been celebrated on April 23 every year in different countries of the world since then.

This day emphasizes the habit of reading books, protecting the copyright of books, and making people more aware of reading books.

The original idea of celebrating Book Day comes from the Spanish writer Vicente Clavel Andrés. He was a blind admirer of the famous writer Miguel de Cervantes

Cervantes died on 23 April 1616. Clavel Andres introduced the day in Spain to bring the day to the world.

The United Nations (UN) declares the book capital every year on World Book Day. It fixes a certain city as the book capital for the next year.

This idea helps to expand, promote, and interest in that City. Accra, Ghana is the book capital in 2023. In 2022 it was Guadalajara, Mexico and in 2024 the capital will be Strasbourg, France.

In the era of the internet, finding individuals who are in the world of books can be challenging. Books are called ‘the food for the brain‘.

Recent research shows the significance of reading books as a vital ingredient for the brain. Books can stimulate our critical thinking skills, enhance our cognitive process, can improve our brain function and increase our vocabulary abilities.

Books with rich narratives and diverse perspectives stimulate our imagination, promoting mental agility.

Reading books reduces mental stress, sharpens our memory, increases our imagination skills, improves our logical thinking skills, improves our focus on study, helps us to sleep faster at night, gets inspired about life, makes us compassionate, and increases creativity. Books are better than movies.

Movies can not help us to imagine because these are right before our eyes.

Books are helping to create the capability of imagination

Neurons start firing in the same way when reading about a physical task. Motor neuron

function is responsible in this case. It can be said that reading a book is a great exercise for the brain.

Writers have the capability to inspire through their stories and novels. The world book day honors the dedication of writers, encouraging them to write more.

The habit of book reading is one of the factors of successful individuals in their achievements. For example, Warren Buffet reads newspaper and corporate reports, and Bill Gates reads around 50 books annually.

This shows the importance of reading books for continuous learning and gaining knowledge, helps to broaden our perspective and inspires innovation.

A famous Bengali writer named Syed Mujtaba Ali’s famous quote “No one ever goes bankrupt by buying a book.” Still reading books is missing.

Maybe World Book Day Day will create a little desire in people’s hearts to read books. That small desire will take everyone back to the world of books. In the world of reading books.
