Often fear and phobia are recognized as common terms but there relies a significant difference between these two topics. In short, it can be said that fear is a controllable natural feeling which is a normal responsive act of every individual human being. On the contrary,phobia is an uncontrollable human feeling which is not a part of life of every human being, rather it can be summoned as a disease to some extent.
Fear and phobia both have varied responses and according to response, fear is considered a part of normal lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle appreciates having fear in it. But phobia obstructs healthy and meaningful living.
Demonstration of the fear response
Fear response is not always generated through a negative experience. Negative experiences rely if you were attacked by a bee or a dog , you may be afraid of the bad context when it comes to your mind even today. Bad experiences will generate a fear in you when you are near dogs or a child.
Again fear can be instigated in you through learning. To visualize the learning situation ,it can be said that in our childhood, our elders used to insert fear in us to keep us safe from spiders, insects or not to do bad behavior. From that issue, by learning fear was inherited in us.
Benefits of fear !!
There is a saying ,”Prevention is better than cure”. It illustrates that a remedy plays a greater role than to cure or having it fit after the injury has occured. So, fear keeps us about the harmful effects of injury and convinces us to take a remedy thereby.
Whenever the object of fear comes infront of you , you start to feel discomfort and always pray to get out of the situation as soon as possible.
If you are afraid of flying, then before taking a plane, you are there to self-meditate on the fear and will try to relax yourself by spending time on reading books and watching movies to get your plane journey time passed.
Demonstration of the phobia response
If you pursue phobia then your response on that particular object observation will be deleterious to a massive extent than the normal fear .The phobia curve always dictates negativity . It cannot be normal , usual or positive like fear.
If you have a phobia of getting into a plane , then if you are bored , you will cry,shout or even cancel tickets and try your utmost to keep yourself away from a plane journey. And this is not at all a normal human behavior. You will be much further away from the airport. Even you may feel much afraid seeing a plane flying over your head in the sky and thereby subject yourself to terror.
Sometimes height phobia is seen in people. For this they avoid much heightened places or seeing the view of your surrounding environment from a mountain or from the rooftop of your building.
Intense demerits of phobia!!
- Obstructs your very normal lifestyle.
- May compel you to change your daily routine.
- Generates anxiety which disturbs not only you but also people around or with you.
- Facing trouble on your necessary tasks like sleeping or other daily basic tasks.
- Knowing an upcoming confrontation of the object of fear , you might want to dwell it obsessively.
Fear and phobia are not actually the same thing. Fear is normal for every human and to think normally about it is a sign of a healthy mood. But if it is phobia then the help of a mental doctor or psychologist is recommended as it is close to disease .It becomes possible to take cautionary measures because of fear . Human life is beautiful with fear inserted in it .But too much fear always needs to be avoided .
