The Exorcist (1973) :

William Friedkin’s The Exorcist is not only one of the scariest movies ever made, but it’s also one of the best-constructed horror films ever made. 

The story of Demon-inhabited Regan, her distraught mother, and the two priests using their religious mojo to save her life to hold up to repeat viewings. In this film, the actors create realistic, believable characters who are worthy of our empathy. The Exorcist is the original, unquestionable, undisputed horror.

 

Helloween (1978) :

John Carpenter raised the bar when he named his film Halloween. Fortunately, It’s a movie that millions of people want to see every October. 

This intensely suspenseful story of a courageous babysitter and a masked killer has been plagiarized and remade countless times. Carpenter’s spine-tingling musical scores add even more suspense.

 

Sinister (2012) :

The film Sinister was rated the scariest movie based on heart rate beats per minute. It was directed by Scot Derrickson and co-written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill.

 

The film is based on Cargill’s real-life nightmare after watching the ring. The film caused a 32% increase in heart rate in its audience. From 65 bpm to 85 bpm. The film stars Ethan Hawk, Juliet Rylance, Fred Thompson, and James Ransone making this film more successful. 

 

The Conjuring (2013) :

The film The Conjuring ranks third among movies that viewers watch with a scare rate of 130 bpm. This film is directed by James Wan and written by Chad Hayes and Cary. W. Hayes. 

 

The film tells the story of Roger and Carolyn Perron as they move into a new house. After being haunted by what they think is an evil spirit and the death of the family dog. Then they call in demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren to investigate. The film stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Willson, Ron Livingston, and Lili Taylor. 

 

Hereditary (2018) :

Hereditary was written and directed by Ari Aster. Audiences experience an average bpm of 82.

The story is about a family who is plagued by a demon after the death of the family’s grandmother. As a result of the suffering the family is going through, tragedies worsen. 

Horror has been a successful genre for the film industry in recent years. Some of the films were even intended for streaming and making significant box office gains.
