“A live cricket match is like a cinematic experience reflecting the true excitement while highlights are nothing less than a trailer of any movie that turns the spotlight on the exciting moments of the game.”
Whether a person wants to enjoy the live matches or only the highlights of the matches solely depends on his preferences. Both of these mediums have their uniqueness. But still, it has to be accepted that enjoying a live cricket match involves some turns, twists, and emotions, unlike watching the highlights.
Highlights are just the gist of the key moments throughout the match. It can not arouse a sense of upbeat within you regarding which team will win as you already know the results. But live matches are always unpredictable and it is nothing less than an emotional roller-coaster that ensures the audiences don’t miss out on anything.
For example, If you go to the stadium, you will start cheering for your favorite team with thousands of other people whom you may not know but your supporting team makes an unparalleled connection of love among all of you. That endless love for the team to win compels the die-hard fans to manage time from their busy schedules just to support their favorite team. Audiences are immersed in the drama that is unfolding the story in a charismatic way while watching a live match.
Boosting the players’ confidence to celebrate the win is one of the most lively experiences gathered while watching a match from the gallery. But it will not be possible for you to cheer up your supporting team directly if you’re watching the live matches on television or any other medium. However, be it in a gallery or on television, your strong emotions will not vary that much. Why so? Because the result is still unpredictable and unknown to you about what is going to happen after each ball. You still speculate on lots of things from which some of the speculations come out to be true. These speculations make the game even more exciting to you!
When your team is batting, there is a hope that your team doesn’t end up losing the main wickets early. Out of excitement, you even start calculating how much your team has made in the power-play. Based on that, you sometimes speculate the total target the opponent team might have to chase for. At times, you’ll get upset by the sudden dismissal of your favorite batsman.
On the flip side, each ball holds the potential to change the momentum of the game when your team is fielding! At the time when the bowler of your team is appealing for LBW, you’re just at the edge of your seat anticipating the dismissal and hoping the bowler’s appeals for LBW turn out to be successful. Even a catch drop can disappoint you to a greater extent as it exaggerates your anxiousness about the result even more. Your heart starts beating faster and you wait anxiously till the end of the match just to see if your team becomes triumphant.
The unpredictable nature of the live cricket match is what makes you glued to your seat and makes everything so captivating! It can spike up the thrill to a greater extent, especially when your team triumphs. However, Live cricket is not just all about excitement rather it offers a blend of excitement and disappointment. Sometimes defeat can be the bitter pill to swallow as winning and losing are mutually exclusive parts of any game! Even it can be difficult to come out of that shell of disappointment for quite some time, making you feel like watching the entire match was a complete waste of time! In such cases, highlights seem a more appealing option to you!
However, the roars among the audience for a boundary, the gasps for a close call, and the shared emotions of dismissal can only be seen and felt while enjoying a live match. On the contrary, highlights will give a crystal clear picture and save time while enriching you with the key information.
If you’re a seasonal fan and not much attached to cricket, then highlights will be a better option. But remember, you’re just turning up the key pages, not reading the whole storybook. So, you can’t expect to feel the same emotion you would have while watching a live cricket match. For a die-hard cricket fan, watching only the highlights won’t be appealing. Therefore, if you’re thirsty for drinking a glass of water, you will have to drink a full glass of water to fulfill your thirst. Only taking 3 sips won’t help!
